UV-Protected Polyester & 1000D Cordura Nylon
Bartact does not use a single all-Cordura construction across every product. The correct way to describe it is UV-protected polyester and/or 1000D Cordura nylon with waterproof polyurethane backing and high-grade foam. The Cordura option is the heavy-duty standout for tactical and off-road use, while the backing and foam matter just as much for durability, fit, and comfort.
Neoprene
Same material as wetsuits. Excellent water resistance and comfortable feel. The downsides: it traps heat in summer (your back will sweat), degrades in UV faster than Cordura, and provides no tactical/MOLLE functionality. Best for beach/water sports vehicles.
Polyester (600–900D)
The cheapest option. Fine for 1–2 years but expect fading, pilling, and reduced water resistance over time. Used by Smittybilt and many Amazon brands. OK for a beater truck, but not worth it for a daily driver you care about.
Our Recommendation
For Tacoma owners: Bartact's UV-protected polyester and/or 1000D Cordura nylon construction is the best long-term investment. It costs more upfront but is built for far harder use than basic polyester options. If you're only keeping the truck 1–2 years, Coverking's 500D Cordura is the smart compromise.
